This charity cricket day was held at Welwyn Garden City Cricket Club.
Three teams took part in the tournament: the host club, a Saracens Hertfordshire League Select XI, and the Lord’s Taverners.
The event raised nearly £4,000 on the day through a raffle, auction, live music, and refreshments, with the total reaching more than £10,000 after including sponsorship and online donations.
Connor Emerton, who organised the event, said:
“We are so grateful for everyone who made the day such a success and hope that everyone who came managed to enjoy some good cricket and an even better selection of cakes.
For decades, there has been chronic underfunding into brain tumour research.
We know there is always more to do, but we were incredibly pleased to raise over £10,000 for amazing research that could make a real, tangible difference for patient outcomes.”
Connor was inspired to organise the fundraiser after his brother Shay was diagnosed with low grade glioma (LGG) brain tumour at the age of 24.
The event was backed by Welwyn Hatfield MP Andrew Lewin and supported by sponsors including Tesco, Fanatics, the England and Wales Cricket Board, Luton Town Football Club, and M&S.
Connor also thanked Welwyn Garden City Cricket Club andAndrew Lewin for their support.
