Benefits

Explore the benefits system.  Hopefully you won’t – and many people don’t – but if you have disabilities after surgery and are cared for by a family member or if you find yourself in the role of carer, look in to PIP (Personal Independence Payments) or Carer’s Allowance.  It is very worthwhile finding a local Carers’ Centre, if there is one near you, as they are invaluable in helping with completing the necessary forms. The link below is a helpful guide although it does not mention something which is very important in brain tumours and that is the fatigue issue.  Bear in mind that the people carrying out these assessments probably have little or no knowledge of brain tumours and their effects. These forms are very complex and need to be completed very carefully.  Click here for more information
